Fiona McLaren
Fiona McLaren is a London-based organisational consultant and coach with an MSc in Organisational Psychiatry and Psychology from King’s College London. She focused on managing change and personal transition, work-related stress and wrote her research dissertation on the psychological issues underlying absenteeism in a professional services firm in the City of London. A visiting lecturer in organisational psychology on Masters courses at King’s College and Brunel universities, she also has an MA in Modern Languages from Edinburgh University and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development.
Before working in organisational consultancy, Fiona spent several years in HR at senior management level including HR Director of a law firm in the City. Her aim now is to help organisations to increase their bottom line through improved resilience and performance, whether by individual coaching or specially designed workshops. She also does related consultancy projects like: management and communications audits; outplacement following mergers and restructures. Having survived two mergers in her past role, she appreciates the need to support change programmes and career transitions, and these subjects will be included in her lectures at King’s College and Brunel in the coming academic year.
Fiona enjoys finding out about businesses and the way they work. “Every organisation thinks it’s different, but there are more similarities than people like to think in the complex, relentlessly fast-paced 21st century. Attending an In-Equilibrium workshop gives people the luxury of time to stop and think about how they manage and how they can do it more effectively and more healthily. Better doesn’t have to be harder!” – particularly pertinent in the current climate.
Over the last 18 months, Fiona has designed and delivered bullying and harassment training courses for managers for two national organisations. One was for an industrial services sector company and the other for a national employee placement organisation.
Fiona has been an In Equilibrium consultant since October 2006.
