A Quick Stress Tip
No-one is an island and the way we are effects not only ourselves but also those around us, both at home and at work. This exercise offers a useful way to address our negative thoughts.
When you find yourself worrying about, or feeling stressed by, a current problem or situation, in your mind’s eye stand back from it for a moment. Close your eyes and then imagine yourself as an octo or nonagenarian with a lifetime of experience and wisdom to offer. What advice would you give to your younger self about dealing with the current problem or situation?
As you think about the guidance your older self offers, do you notice a positive change in the way you feel about the issue?
Sometimes a problem shared is a problem halved, and sometimes we are in the best position to change how we feel about something by standing back and seeing it from a different perspective.
