1. Latest News
Stress Awareness Month 2025
For over 30 years, April has marked Stress Awareness Month. This year, the theme has been ‘Lead With Love’. A twofold theme to encourage us to consider how we treat others with kindness, compassion and acceptance as well as how we treat ourselves, regardless of the challenges facing us.
We looked into our back catalogue for some helpful tips and resources:
- Sympathy, empathy and compassion at work – what’s the difference?
- Do you seek or avoid conversations about grief at work?
- Kindness and its role in mental health awareness in the workplace
NEW workshops now available
Neurodiversity Awareness: Short Interactive Workshops
We have introduced a selection of workshops to help increase awareness and understanding of some of the most common types of neurodiversity.
All 4 workshops follow the same outline; an introduction to the type of neurodiversity, its associated challenges and strengths, plus 3 'how to' sections - spotting signs in the workplace, communicating effectively and supporting individuals in the workplace. The workshops are:
- ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) Awareness in the Workplace
- Autism Awareness in the Workplace
- Dyspraxia/DCD (Developmental Coordination Disorder) Awareness in the Workplace
- Dyslexia Awareness in the Workplace
The workshops are available for in-house delivery either in-person or digitally and are facilitated by a trainer who has lived experience of neurodiversity.
A possible addition to your booklist?
One of our trainers has recently had a book published. With attractive illustrations, surprising facts and memorable quotes, it aims to deliver simple yet effective approaches to help conquer overthinking, stress and burnout. 2. A tip for our resilience toolkits
We’ve chosen a nice fresh citrussy one for Spring. If you haven’t heard about a 'lemonade mindset', we give a brief explanation and include some practical examples to illustrate how it can be cultivated to benefit us at work, as well as in life generally.

- 10 mental health metaphors (and what they tell us about how we’re feeling)
In this short piece from Happiful, some common mental health metaphors are explored. The author explains, using practical examples, what they can tell us about how we’re feeling and how they can be a useful tool to help us convey difficult feelings. - Who’s thriving, who’s struggling, and who’s stuck at the kitchen table: how working lives are changing in the UK
A short article discussing the results of a 2024 survey focusing on people’s experience of their working lives. The survey was conducted by Wales Institute of Social and Economic Research and Data (WISERD) and is unique in that it is the 8th in a series which dates back to the 1980’s, allowing interesting comparisons to be made. - Self-belief in employees boosts workplace behaviour and ethics
New research led by Aston University has revealed the crucial role self-belief in our effectiveness at work plays in shaping workplace behaviour. The study’s lead said that the results suggest that organisations who invest in developing employees’ self-efficacy are likely to see improvements in both performance and ethical behaviour.
6. A thoughtful quote for Spring
"When the winds of change blow, some people build walls and others build windmills.”
Chinese Proverb
7. And finally ...
We finish with some realistic optimism in action ... in this piece by Bryan Walsh gain some research informed advice about the bad news cycle, starting with why it takes precedence over good news in the first place; which, as he proves by example, is also all around us, we just haven’t heard about it because bad news takes precedence! Time for a reset?
