This 1-day course will give participants the opportunity to explore interview skills and practise techniques to increase their confidence to conduct engaging interviews without bias and apply a consistent approach in order to hire the best candidate for the role.

Employers, and in particular managers, play a crucial role in supporting the physical and mental well-being of their team members. Managers who adopt a supportive approach to mental ill-health are more likely to retain their staff, reduce absenteeism, enhance performance and improve the likelihood of recovery.

The National Institute for Clinical Excellence’s (NICE) mental health at work guideline aims to promote a supportive and inclusive work environment and includes a recommendation to provide training for managers.

This course incorporates the areas NICE recommend organisations consider when offering mental health awareness training for managers. It helps to provide managers and team leaders with essential skills to identify people who may be struggling; gain confidence to intervene at an early stage; have conversations on mental wellbeing and ask appropriate questions; explore workable solutions; and offer or signpost to the right help and support.
