Ally Training

In-House Training Courses > Ally Training

Allyship training aims to equip participants with the skills and knowledge to stand up for others and advance equity at work. Allies value diversity and differences and are committed to changing behaviour in order to promote a safe and inclusive working environment for everyone.

Why Ally training is so important

An Ally is someone who actively supports others at work who may be experiencing unacceptable behaviour, such as bullying, harassment, discrimination and microaggressions. Allies understand and appreciate the issues others are facing and proactively advocate for equity at work, using their own standing to do so.

Organisations that value inclusion will benefit from encouraging Allyship at work as it creates a psychologically safe environment where people feel supported and appreciated and are able to ‘be themselves,’ and reach their full potential.

This course examines the concepts of Privilege and Allyship, prompting self-reflection and building confidence to champion change and promote awareness of the benefits of diversity and differences at work.

Key benefits of attending this course

  • Gain an understanding of the role of an Ally and the challenges facing others, such as underrepresented groups, or anyone experiencing disadvantage
  • Build skills and strategies to take action to ensure others are being treated fairly and with respect
  • Learn how to respond appropriately in difficult situations and support others
  • Deepen understanding of Privilege and its effects, promoting equity
  • Greater understanding of how to address and dismantle harmful behaviours and power imbalances
  • Build confidence to act as a champion for change and commit to developing Allyship to enable a culture of active support and inclusivity

Who would benefit from attending this course?

Employees, team leaders, managers, leaders and Human Resources professionals, would all benefit from learning strategies to be an Ally in order to advance equity at work. This training will encourage them to proactively address unacceptable behaviour, show empathy and support for others and foster a respectful and inclusive workplace culture.

The course content and capacity can be customised for individuality and to meet organisations’ specific learning criteria. Consultancy is also an option either as a standalone service or with training.
