Tired all the time? Strategies to promote a good night's sleep

In-House Training Courses > Tired all the time? Strategies to promote a good night’s sleep

This course looks at the unique challenges to sleeping patterns presented by recent events, from COVID to the cost of living and environmental challenges. It concludes with action planned improvements to increase delegate's sleep effectiveness.

Course Context

Since 2019, we have seen many challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic, the cost-of-living crisis, and the effects of extreme weather and global warming. Many people now routinely work from home in a way that didn’t happen in 2019, and boundaries between work and life have become less clear.

All these developments have impacted on our quality of rest and sleep, amid evidence that the population are getting less sleep, and less good-quality sleep than we did in the past. This has resulted in rising awareness of the importance of rest and sleep.

According to the National Sleep Survey 2020, 43% of respondents were finding it harder to fall asleep, and nearly 80% of the 2,700 people surveyed reported that lack of sleep was interfering with their ability to function in the day (daytime fatigue, concentration, mood.) What is clear is that a tired workforce is also likely to be less productive, less motivated, less creative, more prone to making mistakes, and ultimately less healthy.

This workshop provides a space to discuss the issues around sleep and to share best practice strategies to make a sustained improvement in the quantity and quality of sleep. It is a highly interactive workshop, including exercises, personal reflection, and action planning. There will be access to self-help checklists and best practice guidance from bodies like the HSE and NHS.
